Contaminated Land Remediation and Geotechnical Improvement Scheme

£1.7m Land Regeneration Contract for former Bus Depot site to facilitate construction of a new housing development, access roads and public opens areas.

The project entailed demolition of asbestos lagged buildings and ex situ remediation of widespread and varied contamination which included asbestos, free phase hydrocarbons and inorganic species. The main responsibilities included providing professional support in planning and conducting the implementation of a soil management plan, soil compaction and performance testing, soil and groundwater sample collection/analysis and maintain appropriate records in order to validate the works undertaken in compliance with the requirements of the Remediation and Ground Improvement Strategies and Employers Requirements.

The final duty was to produce a validation report for the client and the regulatory authorities in order to meet the employer’s requirement and discharge the relevant planning conditions.
